Milk Handmade has been in the sustainable fashion business since before it was called sustainable fashion. The shop features a variety of independent designers and makers who produce locally, ethically, and using environmentally friendly practices.
Milk is owned and operated by Chicago-native Hallie Borden. Hallie is passionate about supporting local artists and businesses, and opened Milk in the spring of 2012 as a creative outlet for herself and the entire Chicago design community. Hallie also owns Milk’s sister store, Honey Bridal, with her sister Dana.
Milk's eponymous clothing label is designed by Hallie Borden, made in Chicago, and sold exclusively in-store and online at Milk Handmade. Hallie has been the recipient of The Chicago Reader's "Best Clothing Designer" award twice — in 2020 and 2024.
